With the completion of Weeip Park Stage 2, this initiative now comes to New Junction.

At its meeting of 15 December 2021 Council resolved to amend the Midland Oval Redevelopment Master Plan to retain the following properties and their front setback

Elements of the classic Australian backyard, play areas and hangout zones for all ages, and special recognition of history and heritage is what will welcome visitors to Weeip Park in Midland, which officially opened on October 30 as part of the Kambarang Festival.

On Saturday 30 October 2021, 120 years on, the Oval celebrates its redevelopment with the Kambarang Festival.

The Nature Playground, with funding from the Stefanelli Family and Lotterywest, has opened in time for the October school holidays.

The youth playspace, supported by generous donations from the Stefanelli family and the Lotteries Commission, is taking shape.

The first stage of Weeip Park opened in 2020, and is designed to be a place to tell stories, catch up with friends and play. It includes a grassed kick about area, a dedicated youth zone, a climbing wall, basketball goals, public art and landscaping.

The first building in the City of Swan's New Junction precinct was officially opened on August 28, 2020 marking a major milestone for the transformational development in Midland's CBD.

The City of Swan Council agreed unanimously to the new name, Weeip Park for the key public open space in the New Junction precinct.

This week we hit another New Junction milestone when we started construction of the youth hangout zone at Midland Park. This vibrant space will give our teenagers a place to own and belong.
