New mural to showcase the voices of young people
Young people across the City of Swan are invited to take part in a collaborative mural project at Weeip Park, the newest open space within the New Junction precinct.
The City of Swan has engaged local Perth artist Fieldey who will work with young people to design and paint a mural in the Youth Zone of Weeip Park.
Fieldey is hosting a collective practice run at 2pm on Saturday, October 10. Come down and share your stories and ideas, and have a go at painting a practice mural!
Fieldey will then create a design for the mural that weaves together your stories and ideas. We'll also need you to help us paint it during the Christmas school holidays.
Scheduled to open later this month, Weeip Park includes a youth zone with a climbing wall and basketball goals.
Weeip Park is supported by a $1.3m Lotterywest grant which will go towards important facilities for our young generations to enjoy
The children's play area, which will be delivered in stage 2 of construction, is thanks to a $1 million contribution from the Stefanelli family, and will reflect elements of the classic Australian backyard - a place to tell stories, catch up with friends and play.
